On this one day craft workshop you will have the opportunity to make two ‘Do Nothing Machines’. Intriguing small wooden curios of moving parts that move back and forth in a fascinating manner. (link to video here)
No previous experience of woodworking is required and all tools and materials will be provided.
The project will be in the form of a kit of parts at varying degree of readiness. You will be tasked with preparing all the components, sanding to a fine finish, polishing and finally assembling the machine.

how to work safely
an introduction to a selection of hand tools, their purpose and use
use of a dovetail saw and bench hook
paring with a chisel
common timbers in general use
understanding the structure of wood
