Improver/Advanced - 2 Day
This two day advanced course is intended to stretch those with a degree of woodworking experience or may have attended one of the Beginners' courses. The theme will be the detailed process of hand cutting that most quintessential of cabinet making joints - the dovetail.
After the introductions we will have a brief overview of tools, sharpening and timber preparation but will not dwell on these as it will be assumed you have this knowledge and ability from past experience. To begin with we will spend a little time practicing some through dovetail joints before moving on to the project itself. Once the dovetails have been fitted and the box glued together we will then proceed to make a moulded base and the removable lid. You can then polish your box with a wax finish and stand back and admire your hand cut dovetails.
