Taster Day

This one day course is intended for the complete beginner with no previous woodworking experience. The purpose is for participants to have the opportunity to see if working with wood might be for them. It will give a basic introduction to tools, timber and technique as set out in the course content below. As with all courses, the focus will be on the use of hand tools with a hands-on approach to learning.

We begin with the essentials of workshop safety and - following a brief explanation/demonstration - the opportunity to practice sharpening. We will then move on to making the project where you will really be able to get a feel for working at a bench. Throughout the day we will discuss various aspects of basic woodworking and you will be able to ask as many questions as there is time to answer.
